QUANTIFIED ANALYSIS OF UPPER LIMB MOVEMENT
USING A STANDARDISED ECOLOGICAL GESTURE:
Clinical interest?
The quantified analysis of the movement is a cutting-edge technique that objectively and reliably evaluates. Its indisputable clinical interest in the field of walking is struggling to emerge for the motor skills of the upper limb due to the wide variety of its motor repertoire, responsible for the absence of a standardized protocol allowing multicentre comparisons. Grasping an object is a daily functional gesture widely documented in terms of its execution and control that can be used as a reference in the evaluation of upper limb motor function.
As illustrated by two case studies, the kinematic analysis of the grasping shows a benefit in quantifying the functional motor recovery, the compensatory strategies used and the longitudinal follow-up of a therapeutic. Patient management will benefit from this tool, which should complement clinical assessments in the future
