Une jeune femme de 34 ans paraparétique se présente en cabinet libéral 12 mois après sa lésion médullaire. Elle ne tient pas debout dans les parallèles (WISCI 0). Elle est adaptée au fauteuil roulant et se transfère sur les mains sans appui des pieds.
Elle est rééduquée à la poussée sur les pieds à l'échelle oblique, au rameur, au tricycle couché et à la natation palmée.
En 4 mois, elle retrouve alors la capacité de supporter son poids et de marcher dans les barres parallèles. 22 mois plus tard, soit 3 ans après la lésion, elle est capable de marcher 1 à 3 km/h avec 2 cannes et 2 orthèses releveurs de pieds (WISCI12).

NEUROREHABILITATION FOR GLOBAL AND SEQUENTIAL WALKING WITH A YOUNG PARAPARETIC WOMAN
A 34-year-old paraparetic woman presented to a private practice 12 months after her spinal cord injury. She was unable to stand on parallel bars (WISCI 0). She was wheelchair-adapted. She transferred from one seat to another on her hands, without using her feet.
She then learned to push off on her feet through several tasks: A miller's ladder, rowing machine, recumbent tricycle, and finned swimming.
In 4 months, she regained the ability to bear her weight and walk in parallel bars. 22 months later, or three years after the injury, she was able to walk 1 at 3 km/h with 2 canes and 2 foot lift orthosis (WISCI 12).
